Okay, you’re getting serious about your personal credit, but now what? Where do you go, what do you do from here? Good Questions. Managing your personal credit, when you are just starting out, or have had a credit record with the Bureaus for years, can be a daunting task if you don’t know where to start. So many questions, and unfortunately with the double black-eye reputation of the credit industry as a whole, who do you trust? Where can you go to get the straight dope?
With my book under your arm (literally and/or electronically) you now have a tool to not only get started, but to get started in the right way. I have done all the trial and error research, and have incorporated those findings into my book in order to save you time, energy and frustration.
So, first things first. As someone said, you have to know where you sit, so you know where you stand. You need to “pull your own credit.” There are literally hundreds of websites that offer scores and reports. You want to pick one that offers both, and I counsel one that has some type of credit monitoring. I have been using a site throughout this journey that has held me in good stead for a number of years. They offer a tri-merge credit report and all three scores monthly, so one can gauge their progress during the building and repair process. They are: PrivacyGuard. The progress graph on my sales page is from that site. Reports, scores, and monitoring, all in one. I am not an affiliate of theirs, I am not getting paid to drive traffic to their site, I just believe in what they are doing, enough to have tried many, many other sites and have always come back.
Some sites offer only scores, like your bank, or favorite credit card. The three Bureaus only offer reports. You need both, as I said. Whatever you choose, make sure it is the right vehicle for you. But now that you’re serious, get started. Only good things will happen when you do.
